Legal Information Officer / Caseworker
Maryam Umer is qualified as a Lawyer in Pakistan and also worked with a number of think tanks as a socio-legal researcher. Maryam's work mainly focuses on areas of litigation, domestic violence, forced and early marriages and family law. Maryam came to Ireland as GOI-IES scholar for the year 2021-2022 and completed her LLM in International Human Rights Law. Her areas of expertise are Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Asylum and Immigration law, climate change and public policy. Maryam's LLM thesis was based on international criminal law, being someone from the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, she sought to provide a novel contribution to the literature on criminal justice in Kashmir, Kashmiri’s right to Self-Determination and also for States, not party to the Rome Statute in her thesis study.
