For Ukrainians in Ireland
Immigration info for bringing loved ones from Ukraine to Ireland
You can find the Irish government’s FAQs here. This FAQ document provides the most up to date arrangements for Ukrainian citizens and their family members wishing to travel to Ireland. This document will be updated on an ongoing basis as the arrangements and developments change.
Healthcare
Ukrainian nationals will be able to get health care services from the HSE including access to GPs, community care and hospital or emergency care. As well as access to services for children’s health, mental health, disabilities maternity care, older people and many more. Ukrainian nationals will be able to get the same health services as people who are already living here, including Irish citizens.
Ukrainian nationals arriving in Ireland are able to get up to date information about accessing health services at www.hse.ie/Ukraine.
Job mentoring
GoingFar is running a mentoring programme to support Ukrainian refugees to find employment in Ireland. You can sign up to receive support on their website: http://goingfar.co
Contact the Immigrant Council Helpline for free immigration information
If you have any questions about these or any other immigration issues, ring the Immigrant Council Helpline on 01 674-0200 (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 10am-1pm and Tuesdays 7pm-9pm).
Please note our Helpline is very busy due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine as well as the number of State immigration schemes running right now, so it can take a few attempts to get through. We're sorry for any inconvenience but please keep trying if you would like to speak to a member of our team. Unfortunately we do NOT offer drop-in appointments at this time.
For people in Ireland wanting to help
The Ukrainian crisis is prompting an inspiring display of solidarity and charity both here in Ireland and across the globe. We have received many questions from the public on how Irish citizens can help with the crisis, whether it's through sponsoring refugees or donating supplies and aid.
Offers of accommodation
If you would like to offer support in the form of accommodation, please visit the Irish Red Cross website and go to their Register of Pledges to fill in some details about your property or space: https://registerofpledges.redcross.ie
Offers of skills and other forms of assistance
If you have skills to offer to assist Ukrainians coming to Ireland, you can register to pledge your services on the Irish Red Cross website here (scroll to bottom of page): https://registerofpledges.redcross.ie/#/
GoingFar is running a mentoring programme to support Ukrainian refugees to find employment in Ireland. You can sign up to be a mentor on their website: http://goingfar.co
Community sponsorship
The Open Community is a programme that gives people across Ireland the opportunity to come together as community sponsorship groups and welcome resettled refugees to their local communities. Learn more about hosting refugees.
Donating goods and supplies for in Ukraine and surrounding countries
Please contact 0879234421 or 0872510015 if you would like to know where to bring humanitarian aid.
If someone would like to donate medical supplies for Ukrainians, please write to the reserve email of the Embassy of Ukraine to Ireland (emb.ua.ireland@gmail.com) or call 016685189 to get the latest list of necessary items and the collection location.
Agencies on the ground in Ukraine are asking for donations rather than donation of goods, as it is easier to obtain supplies locally rather than shipping these from Ireland.
Right now, there is no single agency or network coordinating all relief efforts or organising options for supporting and relocating refugees. Here are some ways you can help.
Donate to relief organisations supporting Ukrainian refugees
Donate to the Red Cross Ukraine crisis appeal
Red Cross teams are on the ground now in Ukraine and will continue their work to repair vital infrastructure, support health facilities, and help families with life-saving food and hygiene items.
Donate to the Red Cross (Ireland)
Donate to the Red Cross (Ukraine)
Donate to Polish Humanitarian Action
This Poland-based organisation is providing humanitarian assistance including food and other forms of support to people who have had to leave their homes. They are asking for donations to help people affected by conflict, including internally displaced persons and refugees coming to Poland.
Donate to Polish Humanitarian Action
Donate to Together-Razem Centre
This Irish-based charity provides support to Polish and Eastern European migrant communities in Ireland and is currently raising funds to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
The Immigrant Council is also accepting donations to support our free services supporting Ukrainians in Ireland to apply for family reunification for loved ones impacted by the crisis. Consider making a donation today.
Volunteering with the Immigrant Council of Ireland
While we appreciate any offers of volunteering in response to the Ukrainian crisis, unfortunately as a small NGO, the Immigrant Council of Ireland does not have the capacity to support volunteers.
